2012 Oklahoma Legislative Session:
This session has been a successful session for Oklahoma Veterans so far. We have seen over 35 Bills introduced on our behalf and we still have one carry over bill from last session that was heard. This year there seems to be a lot attention placed on veterans and their families, with many bills to expand services and benefits received here in the state.
A few notable bills that have passed are:
S.B. 46 will provide the sales tax exemption to the surviving spouse of 100% Service Connected Veterans. ON APRIL 25, 2012, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES PASSED S.B. #46 AS AMMENDED TO PROVIDE THE TAX FREE I.D. CARD TO THOSE MENTIONED ABOVE...THIS IS A MAJOR BILL FINALLY PASSED, AND IT IS HEADED TO THE SENATE FOR THEIR APPROVAL AND THEN ON TO THE GOVERNOR FOR HER SIGNATURE...PLEASE EVERYONE CALL YOUR REP AND THANK THEM FOR THEIR SUPPORT OF THIS BILL...AND PLEASE CALL REP. A BIG THANK YOU TO ALL THAT CALLED AND DID THEIR PART IN HELPING PASS THIS BILL...
S.B. 1210 the Medical Foster Care Program passed and was signed by the Governor. This is a major breakthrough that will help veterans that wish to reside in a private residence instead of a Veterans Center or other care facilities.
